Project Name: Youth Leadership for an Inclusive and Prosperous Bangladesh (YLIPB)
Duration: 3 years
Funded by: Manusher Jonno Foundation/UK Aid
Summary: The project titled Youth Leadership for an Inclusive and Prosperous Bangladesh aimed to build the leadership capabilities of diverse youth through physical and online programs, instill in them values of tolerance and inclusiveness, engage them in active citizenship, and connect them to economic opportunities. Through its interventions, the project reached a total of 15,220 youth (direct beneficiaries) who received direct intensive interventions and 52,500 indirect beneficiaries who received extensive treatment through different project activities. 420 youth had enhanced critical thinking, diagnostic, and communication skills, as well as values such as empathy, tolerance, and inclusiveness; 4,200 marginalized youth had increased awareness of pressing social issues such as the safe use of technology, gender equality, countering violent extremism, and the threat of drug use; 2,100 youth became part of a youth network that had better access to professional development and increased chances of securing employment; 700 youth were able to participate in national youth leadership summits that allowed them to have intergenerational dialogue with the country’s leaders, policymakers, and prominent changemakers. Furthermore, 12,000 youth received online training on entrepreneurship through a youth entrepreneurship challenge. This challenge then selected and trained 400 potential social changemakers and entrepreneurs through entrepreneurship boot camps and then finally awarded 10 promising entrepreneurs with BDT 8 lakh each and provided further scale-up funding of BDT 15 lakh to 4 of the most impactful implemented projects. Each of these 10 projects positively impacted at least 500 beneficiaries, which means a total of 5,000 or more indirect people benefited from this project. The primary stakeholders of this project were the 15,220 youth being benefited. The secondary stakeholders included the factions of society who could play an important role in enhancing the benefits that the project created. This included the government, academic institutions, NGOs working with youth, employers, and the communities these youth belonged to.
