Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC)-the country’s first leadership institute—builds leadership, employability, and entrepreneurship skills in youth from diverse backgrounds, nurtures their values of integrity, respect, and empathy, and connects them to jobs and business opportunities. Purpose:
Jaagoron project is a civic engagement initiative to be implemented in Dhaka, Manikganj, Gazipur, Chattogram, and Satkhira districts. Led by BYLC in partnership with YPSA and Agrogoti Sangstha, the project aims to empower youth to lead inclusive, rights-based local development through enhanced civic awareness, leadership, and engagement. Project activities will include forming youth groups and engaging existing YLOs, CBOs and OPDs. These groups will receive leadership and civic engagement training and will raise awareness on civic rights through youth meetings and dialogues at the community, union, and upazila levels.
Jaagoron is an anticipated project. The recruitment process is ongoing now. Finally selected candidates will be onboarded after receiving the award.
The Project Officer will play a critical role in implementing Project Jaagoron, a multi-partner civic engagement initiative that empowers youth to lead inclusive, rights-based local development. As a Project Officer she/he will be responsible for coordinating and executing field activities, ranging from youth group formation and training facilitation to service monitoring, intergenerational dialogues, and advocacy events. The role requires close engagement with youth, local government institutions, and community-based organizations to ensure effective delivery of project outputs and outcomes.
Major responsibilities (detailed job description will be available for short-listed candidates)
● Form and strengthen youth groups, YLOs/CBOs/OPDs, and provide necessary training for civic engagement
● Organize and facilitate meetings, trainings, seminars, and workshops as per project targets
● Mobilize youth to actively participate in project activities, including online sessions
● Maintain effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives
● Link youth groups and community organizations with local service providers for better access to basic services
● Collect field data, prepare and submit timely progress reports, and document case stories and lessons learned
● Support leadership development, teamwork, accountability, and coordination among youth, community members, and consortium partners
● Any task assigned by the supervisor
Desired candidate profile:
Education:
● Bachelor/Masters degree in sociology, development studies, economics, public administration, business administration, or related area
Experience:
● Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in development sectors. Experience can be relaxed for exceptional candidates.
